What is Oxytocin

Oxytocin, also called the love hormone, or cuddle hormone, causes sensations of attraction, connection, and happiness in those who experience it. It is most strongly documented between children and mothers, particularly during breast feeding when high levels are released into the blood stream.

The love hormone is secreted from the pituitary gland at the bottom of the brain stem, called the hypothalamus. It sends signals to the brain as a neurotransmitter, and has emotional and physical reactions attached to it. During childbirth, for example, the hormone actually causes contractions in the uterus.

Oxytocin for Men

Women aren’t the only gender to experience emotional and physical reactions to oxytocin; men also feel changes when the hormone is secreted while hugging, holding a new baby, or during intercourse with a partner. In fact, oxytocin has shown positive results in recent studies in reversing the symptoms of erectile dysfunction. Because of the physical reaction men have to their partner when oxytocin is released, men who have difficulty achieving orgasm, have an easier time becoming erect when this hormone is in play.

There is a drug which can be prescribed by your physician which has oxytocin qualities. It is highly monitored in usage because of its phycological effect on the user. Oxytocin is released naturally during sexual intercourse, or just before, and may be enough to deter the need for other ED related drugs.

Emotional Symptoms of Oxytocin

Oxytocin doesn’t just regulate physical reactions, it also causes emotional responses in men. This can be an elated feeling of happiness, or an overwhelming feeling of anxiety, depending on the situation. Studies which followed emotional signs of oxytocin in animals determined that administering the drug when the creature was away from family made the animal depressed or stressed out. These mood changes could also have a link to the physical reactions felt after a release of oxytocin into the blood stream.

If you are considering the use of oxytocin to treat erectile dysfunction, or other sexual related disorders, speak to your family doctor first. He or she may be able to do some tests to determine whether your own natural levels of oxytocin can be used to increase libido. Doctors may suggest hugging, cuddling, or holding hands with your partner to achieve a higher natural release of the hormone. Any activity which allows you to be physically close to your partner can help increase hormone levels of this kind.

What is Sildenafil Citrate (Viagra)

Sildenafil Citrate has two uses in the medical world. It is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension, which is the hardening of the arteries. It is also used to treat erectile dysfunction, a physical disorder which makes it difficult to achieve and maintain an erection during sexual intercourse.

Sildenafil Citrate is marketed under the brand name, Viagra, to treat erectile dysfunction. It works by blocking an enzyme which controls the flow of blood to the penis. This was stumbled upon while testing the drug for use as a hypertension or angina treatment.

How to Be Prescribed Sildenafil Citrate

To use this product to treat ED, you must first visit your doctor. He or she may run a few tests to determine whether this is the best plan of action. There are drugs which perform similar treatments, and may react differently with combinations of other medications which some patients take. The most common alternatives to Sildenafil Citrate are Tadalafil Citrate, and Vardenafil HCL.

During the consultation with your physician be sure to discuss other medications or health conditions which could cause adverse conditions when combined with the drug. An existing heart condition, kidney disease, or low blood pressure could worsen if you take Sildenafil. Your doctor may still be able to prescribe you a low dosage, but this will be decided on a patient by patient basis.

Benefits of Sildenafil

Obviously, the main benefit to taking this medication is the ability to achieve an erection despite having previously experienced erectile dysfunction. Another benefit is that the drug is fast acting, and is taken before a sexual experience, rather than as an every day dosage. This means that you only take as much as you need to perform sexually, and that you can count on the effectiveness of the drug once you know that it works for you.

Side Effects of Sildenafil

As with all medications, Sildenafil has some side effects, such as headaches, cold symptoms, such as stuffy nose, and blurred vision. In very rare cases, some patients have experienced more severe reactions such as hearing loss or a heart attack, but this is not common and is usually related to another health condition or combined medication.

How Does Sildenafil Differ from Viagra?

Pfizer, a British company, was granted a patent on the use of Sildenafil as an erectile dysfunction medication called Viagra in 1996. Before this it was used to treat heart disease. In 2013, Pfizer lost this patent, making it possible for Sildenafil to be marketed by other manufacturers as a generic drug.

So, is there any difference? Other than color, dosage, and the label on the box, not really. Viagra’s active ingredient, which works to treat ED is Sildenafil, so taking the same dosage from a different label will have the same effect on your body.

For more information erectile dysfunction and potential treatments, speak to your doctor, and discover whether Sildenafil Citrate will work for you.

What is Tadalafil Citrate (Cialis)

Tadalafil Citrate is a medication which promotes blood flow to certain regions of the body by relaxing muscles within the blood vessel walls. This is particularly helpful for those who suffer from erectile dysfunction, as it allows natural blood flow to the penis.

Erectile dysfunction occurs when a man is unable to achieve or maintain an erection, during sexual intercourse. While the subject is taboo for some, it affects more than 30-million American males, and is a common diagnosis among men over the age of 60. Men of any age can be diagnosed with erectile dysfunction, and it can be caused by many physical and emotional factors.

Tadalafil Citrate is marketed under the brand names Cialis, for treating ED, and Adcirca for treating hypertension of the arteries. The two pills are not meant to be taken together, or in tandem with other similar drugs, such as Sildenafil or Vardenafil.

Diagnosis and Prescription

Tadalafil Citrate is a prescription drug which shouldn’t be taken without a proper diagnosis from a doctor. If you think that you are experiencing symptoms of erectile dysfunction, speak to your doctor about possible options for treatment.

Once you retrieve your prescription, follow the instructions thoroughly. Tadalafil can help you achieve an erection 30 minutes after taking it, but unlike some competitor drugs, which last only 3-5 hours, Tadalafil has a reported working timespan of 24-36 hours. While the effects of the medication can work up to 36 hours, you should not have a lasting erection for more than 4 hours as this can be physically damaging to your penis. If your erection persists for more than 4 hours, call your doctor immediately.

Side Effects and Restrictions

Not all men can take Tadalafil, especially if you suffer from heart, liver, or kidney disease. Men who have bleeding disorders should also avoid taking the pills for ED. Healthy men rarely experience negative side effects after taking the drug, but there are always risks with any medication.

Reported side effects include nausea, tingling, sensations of flushing heat in the face and extremities, numbness, and dizziness. When these symptoms do occur, they are usually mild, but should be reported to your doctor anyway.

Tadalafil and Cialis are similar in most ways because Cialis is made using Tadalafil as its active medical ingredient. The brand name pills are shaped and dyed to set them apart from other tablets, and come in dosages of 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg, or 20mg. Doctors will usually start you off with the lowest dosage and graduate you as needed. Tadalafil, the generic form of the drug, can be customized and tailored to suit your specific medical needs by a compound pharmacist.

What is Vardenafil HCL (Levitra)

An inhibitor which treats ED, Vardenafil HCL is a common treatment used for cases of erectile dysfunction. A solid substance, almost colorless, it is formulated in tablets, which can be color coded and branded by companies such as Levitra for sale. Vardenafil HCL can also be prescribed in generic form, which generally sells for less than the branded product.

The main ingredient in this drug causes relaxation in the pelvic muscles, which when combined with sexual stimulant, causes an erection. It has a longer average reaction time of 10 hours, vs. the average time of alternative drugs, such as Sildenafil Citrate, which usually lasts only 3-5 hours.

Dosage and Timing

Before you take Vardenafil, you will need to get a prescription from your doctor. Erectile dysfunction is a common issue affecting some 30-million American men. Speak to your doctor about your options can take some of the stress associated with ED away. Once your doctor has diagnosed you with erectile dysfunction and prescribed this drug, you will be instructed to swallow the pills orally in dosages of either 10mg or 20mg per day.

The pill is swallowed approximately half an hour before you expect to engage in sexual activity, allowing it time to interact with your system and assist with blood flow to the penis. While it isn’t necessarily recommended, one of the benefits of Vardenafil, over some other ED medications, is that it is not negatively impacted when mixed with alcohol.

Side Effects of Vardenafil

As with any medication, there is a risk of some side effects when taking Vardenafil. These are similar to reactions caused by competitor medications, such as headaches, blurry vision and nasal congestion. Other side effects include digestion or tummy troubles, although these reactions are normally quite mild, and don’t occur every time, or to every patient.

Your doctor will not prescribe Vardenafil to you if you have a history of poor heart health, a deformity of the penis, or are taking other medications which won’t mix well with the pills. Always follow the instructions given to you through your prescription, and don’t take more than prescribed by your doctor to avoid more drastic side effects.

For more information on Vardenafil, erectile dysfunction, and other treatment options which are available to you, speak to your family physician today. Vardenafil doesn’t work for everyone, but most patients who try it report positive results, and are able to achieve normal, healthy sex lives with their partners.

What is Premature Ejaculation

Premature ejaculation, is the inability to control the length of time before climax and orgasm during sexual intercourse. Usually, men who suffer from this disorder will reach climax directly after penetration, or sometimes before. This can cause several emotional issues, particularly frustration and anxiety, for both partners.

While the subject is a sensitive topic among men who experience it, it is quite common, and happens to most men at some point throughout their sexual history. Usually this happens to young men who are inexperienced, and have higher than average levels of hormones. For others, it could be caused by nerves, medication, or too much stimulation prior to sexual intercourse.

Diagnosis and Treatment

Before you are diagnosed for premature ejaculation your doctor may perform a few tests, or have you keep a journal depicting how often PE occurs in your regular sexual life. Once he or she is sure that this is an ongoing issue, treatment will be prescribed.

Premature ejaculation can be treated through behavioral therapy, physical exercise, stimulant controls, or medication. Your doctor will likely avoid medicinal treatments until they are necessary. Not all treatments will work for every patient, which is why you will try a few before finding one that suits your needs.

Wearing a condom, or using a topical lotion or gel to decrease sensitivity is a popular method of controlling premature ejaculation. This makes it more difficult to feel sexual stimulants, or achieve the full measure of pleasure while partaking in sexual intercourse. Men often find that using these tools can extend the length of sexual activity before ejaculation occurs.

If reduced stimulation doesn’t work, or is uncomfortable, you can try to strengthen the muscles in your pelvic floor to prevent early release. Kegel exercises are a common method of strengthening muscles in this area. It is the same exercise women are instructed to use to help with urination control following childbirth. Some men find it similarly useful in controlling release during sex.

Antidepressants are prescribed to delay climax in those who reach orgasm early. The way that they control serotonin levels helps to delay ejaculation. The type of medication prescribed will depend on your health, other medications being taken, and your reaction to the drug. Common medications prescribed include fluoxetine, paroxetine, escitalopram, clomipramine, and sertraline.

Erectile dysfunction medications are also prescribed for PE, because of the way that they stimulate blood flow to the penis, and at times, prolong erection. The extended length of erection can make it difficult to reach orgasm right away. Standard ED medications are Sildenafil, Tadalafil, and Vardenafil. Mild possible side effects of the drugs are nasal congestion, nausea, blurred vision, and headaches.

Finally, meditation has shown reported benefits in reducing premature ejaculation. This exercise helps to calm anxieties, lower stress levels, and in doing so can help control emotions which may cause you to become overexcited during sex. Exercising your body before intercourse can also help by tiring you out and making it more difficult to focus on the physical sensations to prolong sex.

Aside from condoms and topical anesthetics, most treatments will take time to start working. Even the oral medication takes an average of a week and a half, to two weeks to have any effect on premature ejaculation. By trying more than one method, or experimenting with different treatments, you will find one that works best for your specific symptoms and needs. Avoid mixing medications, and don’t take erectile dysfunction drugs if you suffer from heart, liver, kidney, or any form of blood disease.

For more information about causes, symptoms, and treatment of premature ejaculation talk to your doctor. You can also learn more about PE, and ED online at www.mensfocuslasvegas.com.

What is Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction occurs when a man can’t achieve an erection, or maintain an erection, during sexual intercourse. It is a common problem affecting more than 30-million American men. It is most common in men over the age of 60, but can occur at any age if there are emotional stressors, or physical illnesses present.

During erection, tiny blood vessels all around the penis are filled with blood, which cause it to expand and harden. This is caused by physical sensation, visual stimulation, or other stimulants. It’s perfectly normal for the average man to have trouble achieving an erection from time to time, but if it begins to occur regularly, speak to your doctor about your options.

What Causes Erectile Dysfunction?

While the symptoms of the disorder are easy to pinpoint, and sometimes include a low sex drive along with the inability to achieve erection, the causes are a little less direct. There are many reasons why ED can affect a man, and in some cases your doctor will need to treat the underlying reason for the problem, rather than the problem itself. Diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and high blood pressure and cholesterol are all common physical issues associated with erectile dysfunction. Neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease is also linked to ED.

Your emotions and the things that go into your body each day will also be reflected in this disorder. Stress, anxiety, and depression are well known triggers for erectile dysfunction. Smoking cigarettes and drinking large quantities of alcohol can have a negative affect on your sexual health and overall health.

Visiting the Doctor and Treatment Options

You don’t need to visit at the first sign of a problem achieving erection, but if the issue persists, you should make an appointment with your physician. If the issue seems solvable with your family G.P., then he or she will treat you themselves. There is a possibility that your doctor will refer you to a urologist for a more in depth look at what’s going on. Especially if the issue seems to stem from the penis itself, rather than an emotional problem.

Once you have been diagnosed with erectile dysfunction, your doctor can begin treatment. The most common form of ED treatment is medication, such as Verdenafil or Tadalafil, commonly used to make brands, such as Levitra, Cialis, and Viagra. The medication is taken in pill format, usually before sexual intercourse. These medications work in different ways with the same overall affect of influencing blood flow to the penis.

The pills last for up to 5 hours, but wear off over time, with most men claiming a 3-hour average duration for erection and the sensations associated with it.

In extreme cases of erectile dysfunction, surgical implants might be considered, although your doctor will only suggest this as a last resort to treating erectile dysfunction. During the surgery an inflatable device is implanted, along with saline solution to make it work.

Going Forward

If you are dealing with erectile dysfunction, help is available. Ongoing research on the subject has found new breakthroughs and opportunities for treatments within this spectrum over the past decade with promise for further advancements as years continue.

Being honest with your partner can take some of the pressure off if the symptoms are stress related. ED isn’t something to be embarrassed about, and it doesn’t have to be the end of your sex life. Visit your doctor and discuss your options as soon as you feel that erectile dysfunction is impeding you. Most men report successful results using the above-mentioned medications, especially if they are customized through a compound pharmacy to suit the individual needs of the patient.
